Betsy Wagner has had a life-long involvement in agriculture and environmental stewardship. She grew up on a beef and crop farm in southeastern Wisconsin. In college she took a year off from school to promote and advocate for agriculture and agricultural education as a state officer for the Wisconsin FFA Association. She earned her B.S. from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls and her M.S. and Ph.D. from Texas A&M University, all in animal science.
From 2006 through 2017 she was a faculty member in the Department of Animal Sciences at Auburn University with a teaching and research appointment. Honors include the AU College of Agriculture Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence and the Southern Section of the American Society of Animal Science Outstanding Young Scientist – Teaching award.
Betsy currently works as a freelance writer and a consultant in equine nutrition. In her free time she enjoys gardening, fishing, and spending time with her horse.
